Comprehensive laser hair removal training covering device physics, Fitzpatrick skin typing, fluence optimisation, treatment protocols, and safety management. Hands-on clinical training in Sydney.

Program overview
Laser hair removal is one of the most in-demand aesthetic treatments in Australia. Our training program provides nurses and aesthetic practitioners with comprehensive education in laser physics, chromophore targets (melanin), Fitzpatrick phototyping, device operation, parameter selection, and adverse event management — covering both diode laser and Intense Pulsed Light (IPL) platforms used in Australian clinics.
Laser hair removal devices are classified as regulated medical equipment in Australia. Practitioners operating these devices must understand the physics of selective photothermolysis, patient suitability assessment, and contraindications including active tan, photosensitising medications, and hormonal conditions. Our training ensures you meet the clinical knowledge standards expected of safe aesthetic laser practitioners.
Laser hair removal curriculum
The program moves from laser science foundations to supervised hands-on device operation, ensuring you understand both the physics and the clinical decision-making required for safe laser hair removal practice
Is This Right for You?
Clinic directors wanting to ensure their nursing or therapy team can operate laser devices safely and effectively, with documented training that meets regulatory expectations.
Dr Sana Pirzada is a highly experienced aesthetic practitioner and the founder of Aesthetics Consults. With over 15 years in cosmetic medicine, she has mentored hundreds of registered nurses across Australia, helping them build safe, confident, and AHPRA-compliant practices.
Her mentoring approach combines deep anatomical knowledge, hands-on injectable technique training, and real-world business guidance — everything you need to thrive in the competitive aesthetic medicine landscape.
Licensing requirements for laser hair removal vary by state and territory in Australia. In most states, a formal qualification or training certification from a recognised provider is required to operate Class 3B and Class 4 medical lasers. Our training program provides comprehensive documentation of your clinical education. We recommend verifying the specific requirements in your state with your professional body.
Laser hair removal uses a single, focused wavelength of light (typically diode 808nm or Nd:YAG 1064nm) for precise melanin targeting. IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) uses a broad spectrum of wavelengths filtered for hair reduction. Laser is generally more precise and effective across a wider range of skin tones. Our training covers both platforms.
Most patients require 6–8 treatment sessions at 4–8 week intervals, depending on the treatment area, hair density, and hormonal factors. Our training includes patient education protocols and how to set realistic expectations during consultation.
With the appropriate device and parameters, laser hair removal can be performed on Fitzpatrick skin types I–VI, though darker skin types require specific wavelengths (Nd:YAG 1064nm) and lower fluence settings to minimise pigmentation risk. Our training program covers safe parameter selection for all skin types.
